Render vs Reality: A Luxury Living Room Interior Design in Bangalore, One Year Later

Luxury living room interior design Bangalore — Sobha Windsor, one year after handover
The Sobha Windsor living room today — the same layout, sofa arrangement and TV wall the family approved as a 3D render before a single panel was cut.

Every Furdo project starts as a render — a photoreal image the family signs off before any material is ordered. What almost never gets shown is what happens after: does the room still look like that render once real life moves in? A year after handover, we went back to a Furdo living room at Sobha Windsor, Bangalore, to find out.

01 Why we went back

Most design content shows a project at its most staged — the week after handover, before a single cushion has been moved out of place. That’s not how anyone actually lives. So instead of another handover-day shoot, we returned to this Sobha Windsor home a full year in, with the family’s daily routines, their guests, their evenings, all fully in motion around the furniture. The question we wanted answered wasn’t “does it still look good,” but the harder one: does the room still work the way it was designed to?

This is also the honest answer to a question we hear constantly during the design phase, before a client has committed to anything: will my home actually look like the render? A year-later comparison is the clearest way we know to show that, rather than just claim it.

02 What the render promised

Before any material was ordered, the family reviewed an HD photoreal 3D render of this living room — the sofa arrangement facing a media wall, a coffee table sized for the space rather than the showroom, and a warm, layered lighting plan instead of a single bright ceiling fixture. The render is a real commitment, not a mood board: every dimension, every finish and every piece of joinery in it is what actually gets built, which is why it can be held up against the finished room a year later and expected to still match.

03 The room today

The sofa and media wall a year on — the leather has taken on a lived-in patina, and the layout still seats the family the way it was designed to.

Walk into the room today and the bones are exactly what was approved on screen: the same seating arrangement, the same warm-toned media wall, the same sightline from the front door through to the dining space beyond. What’s changed is entirely the good kind of change — a leather sofa that’s softened with a year of actual sitting, framed art the family has added to walls that were left intentionally quiet in the render, and the small clutter of a lived home that no render ever shows: a stack of books, a coaster left on the coffee table, a throw pulled over one arm of the sofa.

That’s the real test of a render-led design process. It isn’t whether the room looks staged a year later — it’s whether the layout, the storage and the lighting still make sense once nobody is styling it for a photograph.

A render is a promise about the bones of a room. Whether that promise holds a year later has nothing to do with styling, and everything to do with how well the room was actually planned.

04 The wear that tells the real story

The media wall’s detailing, still tight and true a year on — the payoff of branded certified plywood and Hettich hardware rather than a like-for-like substitute.

The parts of a living room that take the most daily wear are rarely the parts anyone notices on handover day: cabinet doors that get opened every evening, a TV console drawer that holds the remotes, the seams where two panels of veneer meet. A year on, this is where material choice shows up honestly. The media wall’s joinery — built in branded certified plywood with Hettich hardware from Furdo’s own production facility — still closes flush and square, with none of the swelling or misalignment that shows up fastest in a humid Bangalore monsoon when a project has cut corners on the boards underneath the finish.

It’s a small, unglamorous detail to build a blog post around. But it’s also the most honest answer to whether a “luxury” finish was actually luxury, or just photographed that way once.

The Furdo Difference

What you see in the render is what gets built

Furdo has designed and delivered 4,500+ homes across Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai, and is 4+ star rated across platforms. Every project — including this Sobha Windsor living room — is planned around an HD photoreal 3D render for two rooms of your choice before any material is ordered, then built in branded certified plywood and Hettich hardware from our own consolidated production facility. That’s what makes a year-later comparison like this one possible in the first place: the render was never a marketing image, it was the actual build plan.

05 What we’d tell a family starting this process today

The open sightline from living into dining, planned in the render and unchanged a year into daily life.

If you’re weighing a render-led design process against simply trusting a contractor’s word, this is the case we’d make: ask to see the render for your actual rooms, at your actual dimensions, before you sign off on materials — not a generic inspiration image pulled from a catalogue. Then ask what happens if the finished room doesn’t match it. A render is only worth something if the studio behind it is building to that exact plan, not treating it as a suggestion.

A year later, the truest measure of a good living room isn’t how it photographs on day one. It’s whether the family still uses it the way it was designed to be used — and whether the materials underneath the finish were built to still be doing their job by the time anyone thinks to check.

06 How Furdo delivered this room

This living room followed Furdo’s standard three-stage process — Design, Build, Handover — with a single dedicated designer from the first floor-plan conversation through to move-in. Before any material was ordered, the family approved an HD photoreal 3D render of this exact room, at its exact dimensions. Design typically runs 30–45 days, with implementation following once the design and materials are signed off, and every piece of woodwork carries Furdo’s 10-year warranty.

Frequently asked questions

Does a Furdo home actually end up looking like the 3D render?

Yes — the render is built from the exact dimensions, finishes and joinery that get ordered, not a generic inspiration image. This living room at Sobha Windsor is one example: a year after handover, the layout, materials and detailing still match what was approved on screen before construction began.

How many rooms can I see as a render before I commit?

Furdo provides HD photoreal 3D renders for two rooms of your choice before you commit to materials, so you can see and approve the spaces that matter most to you first.

What materials hold up best over a year of daily use?

Branded certified plywood (BWP grade for kitchens and wet zones, MR grade elsewhere) paired with Hettich hardware is what we build with across every project — it’s the combination that keeps drawers, cabinet doors and panel seams performing the way they did on handover day.

Is the whole living room covered by warranty?

Yes — every piece of woodwork Furdo builds carries a 10-year warranty, including media walls, storage units and built-in joinery.
